Bumble, the dating app traditionally known for allowing only women to make the first move, has recently introduced a new feature that allows you to take on the first-mover advantage. This shift marks a significant departure from Bumble’s original model.
Previously, after a match was made, women had 24 hours to send the first message, or the match would expire. Now, with this new functionality, guys also have the option to initiate contact. Great news for YOU, man!
1. YOU Can Make the First Move with ‘Opening Moves’!
- Compliments Before Matching: With this new Bumble feature, guys can now send a ‘Compliment’ to women before matching. This allows you to be able to comment on a specific aspect of a woman’s profile (like a photo or something in her bio) before actually matching with her. This means, she realises you’re actually interested before matching with you.
- So if you really like the look of a profile, you no longer have to wait around, hoping she’ll like your profile too. You can simply let her know by paying her a Compliment.
- Compliments are limited in number, which – hopefully! – encourages you to use them thoughtfully.
- This ‘Opening Move’ feature on Bumble, gives you more opportunity to engage with a profile you really like
2. Changes to Contact Initiation
- YOU Can Initiate Contact FIRST: While Bumble still maintains its core feature where only women can initiate the conversation after a match, sending a Compliment before matching, potentially increases your chances of getting a match and starting a conversation.
- Bumble Premium and Boost Users: If you’ve got Bumble Premium or Boost, there’s a feature where you can extend the 24-hour window, allowing more time for the woman to make the first move. This feature remains, but the ability to send a compliment or engage in a limited way before matching can add a layer of interaction for you.
